You are way off base... He dropped Troyanavsky (or whatever) who is legit and handed Burns a lopsided loss. Dudes a legit world champ.

Prograis should walk him down and finish him in 6-8 rounds. How Indongo was walking around with two belts speaks more about how crappy the division was then of his ability. I don't know, just not big on the guy.

So, if Prograis beats Indongo and then Postol, where is he p4p? This kid has never fought any champion and now he is fighting what is probably the best W on Crawford's entire resume. Which proves two things: Prograis is confident and not scared and 2) Crawford has the worst resume for any p4p #1.

Not saying Bud isn't all that, but his resume does not scream greatness.

Really like this Prograis though. I had seen him on ShoBox or whatever the prospect fighting is on Showtime, and very impressed. Never heard nothing about the guy until Postol was announced. Got Prograis winning but you never know when a guy takes a sudden step up in opposition.

"Not saying Bud isn't all that" BUT...funny because it sure sounds like you're implying that Crawford is nothing special.

            Put in perspective:
Bud Crawford fought and beat two undefeated champions to unify the 140lb division. Regis Prograis will fight a man that's been beaten, the blue print has been laid. If Regis can beat Indongo, similar to Crawford, the entire 140 division will be on notice.

I personally think Regis is a great athlete, good head movement, controls distance and enough power to hurt Indongo. If Regis wins, which I expect, he'll call out Mikey Garcia and Lonachanko and maybe Crawford to draw attention.

First, Crawford is on to 147 fighting bigger better fighters than Regis but if they did fight, Crawford beats Regis at any weight because Bud is fundamentally better.

This thread is one of the biggest reasons why I come back to BoxingScene. Keep up the great discussions.

I don't mean to imply Bud isn't special, just that his resume does not show it. The best win for Postol was a shot Matthysse and the best win for Indongo was either Troyvanski or whatever or Ricky Burns. Yes they were undefeated champs, but that really doesn't mean too much. Lipinets is similar to either Indongo or Postol in terms of skill and experience against top opposition. And I don't think ko'ing Lipinets means Mikey is any higher on a p4p list.

I'm saying for a fighter to be #1 p4p, they need better wins than Postol and Indongo. Horn is tailor made for Crawford and I expect a short fight. Horn isn't some world beater. He's a decent fighter who bullied a much smaller, older Pac and many still had Horn losing. If Bud actually fights Thurman, Spence, Porter, (D) Garcia, and Vargas, then I will be impressed. I would say all five beat Horn every day of the week. So far Bud has beaten smaller opposition that are far from elite. Which doesn't mean that Bud isn't elite, just that too prove you are elite, you need to fight the best. Bud entered the ring at 157 against Postol. 157 is big for 140. That is Canelo type weight advantage. Bud had the size, skill, and ring IQ to compete with the best. So I believe we should see him fight some of the best fighters before anointing him p4p #1.
