Pacquiao met Roach by chance when he was searching for an American trainer and roach was the first american trainer he met and tested him, he tried and got him as his trainer and 21 years of age.

From what i have heard that freddie roach is the only trainer interested to test pac the other trainer that they approach snub pac.

roach is a good offensive coach, pac natural abilities played right into it. had it been another trainer, he probably woulda developed better footwork and a jab but lost a lot of the offensive output.
