roy jones and PED's..

Prior to 2008/2009 PED's were not treated as serious an offense as today and it was somewhat accepted in professional sports that most athletes used them. The testing was much more easier to pass and sometimes when big stars like Roy Jones Jr failed a test...it might be swept under the rug and hushed up. Athletes would deny using them and everything was fine.
Then Marion Jones went to jail in 2008 for lying to federal agents in 2003 about her usage of PED's and the investigation into Balco named Sugar Shane Mosley as a Balco client. Mosley gave deposition to a grand jury admitting using them in 2003. The Mosley transcripts were part of a massive BALCO file that was under protective order from 2004 until 2009 and then became public knowledge.
Testing and penalties then became a whole different affair. But still at the highest levels athletes use top chemists to help them pass tests and if you're a super money maker in Las Vegas the commission may not want to tip the apple cart and let certain things and people have a little extra leeway.
Back in the day Roy Jones Jr was not really doing anything that many others...if not most others did and nobody really cared all that much about it...at least not as much as today anyways. The attitude was very different then.Comment

Ever had steroids or known someone who has? Silly question, if you had personally had steroids you'd knowComment

As you say it’s old news anyway, I’m not denying the fact that Roy use PED’s (cause it’s probable he did) I’m just saying there isn’t enough evidence to confirm it. I suspect a vast majority of boxers from the 90’s were using PED’s tbh, it was a very different time.Comment

Has the provenance of the letter been validated though?
