Comments Thread For: Gilberto Ramirez Willing To Face Chris Eubank Jr. in The UK

WBO super middleweight world champion Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez and his team are in agreement that it's time to go after the big fights. Before arriving at the major fights, one of the wishes for Ramirez have yet to be fulfilled - to defend his in his native Mazatln. And then he wants to go looking for IBO champion Chris Eubank or whoever ends up being the winner of the World Boxing Super Series.

Hahaha. First some nobody in his hometown, then another nobody in Murdock. Maybe after that he'll have enough balls to fight a real opponent. Arum wouldn't risk it even if Ramirez had the guts.

Is Arum okay with that doe?

We really gotta stop acting like the fighters are the decisions makers in this era. They aren't. They are among the decision makers, but some of these cats I'm not entirely sure if they even got a 50% vote.

Did I miss something? Did ramirez become some sort of superstar legend overnight? This dude is talking about going home to fight in front of his people and then immediately deserving a shot at the winner of the tournament? Sounding a little entitled but hey, maybe he's a bigger star than I realize.

Gilberto should go after Anthony Dirrel or Caleb Truax.

He is and hes the champ so he doesnt have to earn anything. Hes the best at 168 and they should all fight each other.

Nobody forces fighters to sing (long-term) deals with promoters, matchmakers or managers.

It's up to them. Look at Eubank Jr, yes the slavemaster style promoters Hearn and Warren talk bad about him now but he used them and not vice versa. And he's independent now, working with everyone.

Easy to say, hard to do. Look at most of Haymon's free agents? They aren't with promoters, they aren't getting the press.

Sign with a promoter & you are probably getting f#cked. Plenty of big names have lost years of their career & even had millions stolen from their value or outright stolen.

Idk that its a winnable game for fighters.

Eubank Jr like Chavez Jr got gifted a name that puts him in a better place then the average guy.

But hey nothing is cut & dry or 100%, but there is so much bs & corruption in boxing & I think its hard enough to be a elite level boxer let alone needing to worry about the people supposedly looking out for you f#cking you over.

Idk the right answer, idk that there is a right answer just saying Gilberto isn't likely making his own decisions like I don't think a lot of cats are entirely & I think if the sport was able to operate under a different structure the sport would be better for fans & fighters.

/rant doe cuz thats not happening anytime soon.
