  • Comments Thread For: Hurd: Size Big Factor; Lara Won't Be Able to Run for 12 Rounds

NEW YORK Jarrett Hurd has a feeling size will matter plenty when he encounters Erislandy Lara. The undefeated Hurd, listed at 6-feet-1, is significantly bigger than the 5-9 Lara. The IBF junior middleweight champ figures to out-weigh Lara by a considerable amount once they step in the ring for their 154-pound title unification fight April 7.

Hurd looks huge. If he lands big power shots, game is over for Lara.

I think Lara will pepper Hurd with vicous straight shots early, so it's all about Hurd staying composed and maintaining the pressure... He was able to break Harrison and Trout, but Lara is way fitter and craftier than those two.
If Hurd can win, men that would be amazing achievement and win on his record...
Agreed... No real wrinkles to his game that he would need to beat Lara. Hurd is just a little too flat-footed, and can't throw without his feet right underneath him. I see the Cuban boxing him to a comfortable decision.

“Running” for twelve rounds is a lot tougher than most people think it is. And Lara is one of the few fighters that can do it, and do it effectively.

That said, Hurd is a big boy. I didn’t realize how big he was until the prefight instructions against Trout. Hurd isn’t very good. And Lara is gonna box circles around him. Especially early. But if he can keep his composure, not fall apart mentally, and keep the pressure on. It’s gonna be a very interesting rounds 9-12. Because it’s gonna be not only physically, but mentally draining for Lara to basically have to be perfect against someone that much bigger and stronger for twelve rounds.

I picking and sheering for Lara, he got the skill set to deter Hurd from coming in with punches in bunches. That Hurd Dude is a massive guy he is the one that should be competing with the super middles of the world.

Lara is 35-36 and i don't see anybody here crying he is to old, Why is that? double standards?
