He has the best 2 wins of the last 30 years too, prime Bhop and toney. Sweat Pea was robbed of his against Chavez which would of been close, and Floyd beat many waaaay to late.
i wouldn't call bhop prime in 1993. and JT was a burger eatin machine that boiled down from 215 lbs to face jones. that was his weight six weeks before the fight. he melted off 47 lbs in six weeks. after the weigh in he was hooked up to an IV until the next day. with that said JT ALWAYS had weight issues but i wouldn't consider a drained toney his best version.

jones win over ruiz holds more weight than both the wins against bhop and JT in a historical context. he did something not seen in 100 years. even though some might say ruiz was the sorriest heavyweight in the division. that dont matter. history is history.

    1. ruiz
    2. griffin
    3. bhop
    4. toney
    5. tarver 1
    6. virgil hill

those are imo Roy's best wins.

toney was drained. losing 47 lbs in just six weeks. hooked up to an IV after the weigh in... cant leave that part out. context is everything. gotta be consistent cuz the same is done with floyd, all his wins are ripped apart.. marquez drained, oscar old, shane old, canelo too green, pacquiao too late etc etc.. so to stay consistent james toney was drained and hopkins wasn't yet prime in 1993. . and oh yeah ruiz was a "bum".. gotta play devils advocate here lol

Was this guy broke? I never heard him being chased around for child support or ******** so just wondering why he kept fighting when he was just a punch bag.

Such great memories of Roy. He made the 90s and I really thought he was invincible. Looking back Ruiz wouldve been the perfect time to ride into the sunset. He'd be being talked about as one of the the top five of all time.

Wish I'd have remembered to go to Pennsacola and check it out. Would've been a fun trip.

And for those of you bashing Roy... what true boxing fan hasn't went back and watched Roy's prime years on Youtube several times? I'm sure he'll enjoy his retirement. He's a great commentator, he manages and promotes fighters, and he'll stay in or around the sport for the rest of his years.
