EXACTLY!!! Canelo at this point needs big names not belts. And all though 160 is finally STACKED it has no names. I can see Canelo Saunders next if these 2 don't do a 3rd fight. Charlo beats a few other ppl he will get Canelo. Again Canelo fights on PPV now days and needs fighters that can sale tickets.

1000% agree. Charlo needs to eliminate some other dudes to force Canelo's hand. And needs to look good doing it. Right now Charlo cant even sale out places in his own hometown. He also was boo'd very loud after the Trout fight.Comment

Canelo doesn’t give a **** about belts and abc’s. He’s purely a prize fighter and will fight whoever brings the most profit to the fight. If Charlo continues to raise his stock by fighting the the top competition (DJ, Dev, Andrade, etc) available, he will get that Canelo fight regardless. If he squanders his time and effort fighting scrubs and second tier level competition, he will most assuredly get bypassed by another fighter for the Canelo sweepstakes. Same goes with GGG. Canelo first and then Saunders. Charlo better get it in gear and start fighting live dogs.
He wants the Canelo pay day then he better step up his game!Comment

I think the trainer is right, but this post, is why boxing suffers. I like the Charlos. I think they have good attributes and want to see them rise. But avoiding fighters because they dont have titles is bs. I get it, “boxing is a business blah blah blah, its not you in there, its their health.” I dont care about that. I just want to see the best fight the best. I dont care who makes what on their paycheck or how many views it got. If a fighter is as good as he or his trainer says, fighting guys without belts should never be a problem. Take the easy money instead of sitting on the shelf.
The problem here is not really Charlo you know. The problem is Canelo and GGG. If Charlo knew that GGG and/or Canelo would fight him irrespective of whether he was their mandatory or not, I'm sure he would have chased after Jacobs or Andrade or Derevychenko or whatever.
However, he knows that GGG and Canelo won't fight him if they don't HAVE to.
Remember Canelo avoided him and his brother like the plague at 154, even when they were both champions Canelo went after the weakest champ in the division (Liam Smith).
GGG refused to fight Charlo's stablemate/sparring partner (Lara) because 'high risk low reward'.
He knows these guys won't fight him if he doesn't hold down that mandatory spot.
Then there is also the wbc. They ordered him to fight another eliminator even though though he already earned that mandatory spot.
If they don't order that eliminator, then Charlo becomes free to fight whoever he wants. If that was the case, I would also be asking for a better fight. Even though I know Jacobs and Andrade don't want that work, I'd still be pissed if he didn't try to get at least Murata or Derevychenko in there.
There is however another factor to consider. I hear Derevychenko is also Haymon, doubt Haymon will let Jacobs, Derevychenko, and Charlo fight each other any time soon if that is the case.
I think we all know Haymon's MO by now. Haymon almost never let's his top contenders fight each other. Usually he positions them to be mandatory challengers for the IBF, WBA, and WBC, gets them title shots, and then let's them defend their title two or three times before he makes them unify.
It seems like he is pushing that kind of work right now. Jacobs was associated with the WBA (don't know if he still is), Charlo is the wbc mando, and Derevychenko I believe is IBF mando. Aint saying it's right but it is how Haymon works, just stating facts.
Remember he did the same at welterweight. He had Danny get the wbc, Thurman the wba, and Spence the IBF. Then he had Danny and Thurman unify, and the next big fight is Spence vs Thurman to unify. It's how he roll.
Same at 154. Had Hurd go after the IBF, had Lara keep the WBA, and had Jermell Charlo go after the WBC. Now he got Hurd and Lara unifying, and next after that it's Charlo and the winner unifying.
Based on that pattern, I think we can easily guess what's up with Jacobs, Charlo, and Derevychenko.
Andrade aint Haymon, and he an all talk no action pussie anyway. Aint no way he signs to fight any of these guys. Derevychenko been tryna get him in the ring since last year, and he already pulled out of fights with Jermell Charlo and Lara twice each (three times with Lara).
Just...forget about that guy okay, trust me, it's better that way for your own sake.Comment

With the way he looked at MW GGG puts the clown down easily. He was far from impressive and showed he is nothing to be worried about. The Williams win which all you fangirls put your stock in was nothing special cuz Williams was all hype.Comment

He aint sitting on the shelf though, he's been ORDERED to fight Contento. If he doesn't fight Contento he loses his title shot.

I am not sure how my statement, which was a general statement about matchmaking, connected to GGG so directly for you. I would include GGG on a list of guys who is somewhat guilty of wasting prime time sitting on the bench for a superfight. What was it that made you assume my statement was anti-Charlo? Or pro-GGG? I clearly was discussing something that is true across the sport and hurts the sport. If you are traumatized by GGG fanboys, don't attach that nonsense to my post.Comment

That's right punk you can't answer that! All you ever got was the Charlo sisters running their mouth like a couple of high school girls and saying everyone is avoiding them but yet they keep fighting bums instead of Lara, Andrade, and Jacobs .
So quit hating punk and go back to sucking ****!Comment
