Let’s settle this the correct way.

Larry Merchant: “HAL, what do you think about articles being made to hate on Floyd just because RJJ said something as of late?”

HAL 9000: “Your questioning shocks me, Larry. There is no one better than TBE. My memory modules were dipped in anti-doping transistors. I know.”

I don't think Roy Jones was talking about compubox stats specifically. At his apex, RJ appeared almost invincible and definitely unbeatable whereas in Floyd's prime, he was unbelievably dominant but there were times when it wasn't unreasonable to favor his opponent of think that his opponent would win. Jones had more of that aura of invincibility. That said, Mayweather definitely had the better career, I just don't think he was as "supermanesque " at the height of his powers. My two cents. Peace.

Pointless... Idek you have compubox when you have judges that will still give the fight away to somebody else when clearly compubox has a fighter winning or vise versa. I like Roy he was the man but floyd mayweather had the better career, Roy last fight is not even on HBO a network he kept alive at one point in time.

Roys legacy is MUCH bigger than frauds. I don't care about the 0. Hagler and Holyfield are greater and they didn't have the 0. The only issue with RJJ was 1. He stayed in the game too long. Way too long. And 2. Going up to heavyweight and then trying to come back down so quick ruined his body and he took much more abuse than he should have. RJJ over FMJ for certain.

More impressive than Mayweather's own connect percentage is that of Floyd's opponents against him. They land a mere 16 percent of punches thrown, the lowest collective figure recorded in CompuBox's 4,000-fight database.

While most of boxing's cognoscenti debate who should be crowned pound-for-pound king, few would question Mayweather's dominance as the era's best defensive fighter. That's an important distinction. Because although all fighters hit as often as they're physically able, the best boxers connect often and avoid being hit too frequently.

            Greatest of all time?

Statistically speaking, Mayweather clearly reigns supreme over his contemporaries. But he also stacks up very well against history's pugilistic pantheon.

CompuBox stats suggest Mayweather sits high atop a pile of fighters whose numbers were measured during their designated primes, tabulated using ringside figures and fight films. In a plus/minus comparison, greats such as Marvin Hagler (plus-17 percent) and Sugar Ray Leonard (plus-13 percent) don't come close. Roberto Duran (plus-8 percent), Thomas Hearns (plus-6 percent) and Muhammad Ali (plus-4 percent) fall short, too.

Only heavyweight great Joe Louis, at plus-26 percent, approached Mayweather's peak. And the one area, at least for this particular analysis, in which Mayweather had competition was connect percentage, where Louis and fellow former heavyweight champ Lennox Lewis edged him by 2 percent.

And we know ESPN is the National Enquirer of Sports trivia. Rafael is a partisan reporter. As a boxing fan for 50 years and judging for number of years I know GOATS when I see them. Fraud is one of them but certainly not TBE. That's just nonsense.

Jones was truly a spectacle. He and Leonard are 2 of my 4 favorite fighters of all time. I met Jones twice and Leonard once. Leonard gave me an autograph of a glove with a smiley and his signature inside which is the best autograph I have ever gotten in my life. I even exchanged a couple emails with Leonard. As to Floyd, I enjoyed his skills on display each time he fought but I never endeared myself to him like I did to Leonard, Jones, Arguello, and Sanchez.
