Frankly i find this abit cringe worthy. Why is Gassiev trying to look like such a nice guy for?? He won the belt fair and square i dont think anyone would admonish him if he had of kept it. Does this mean now that Dorticus is still the title holder??

Sportsmanship among adults fighting is always nice to see.

Never liked Broner and am glad he's eaten his words...time and time again. He's a punk and not worthy of the paper his money is printed on.

Hate Floyd all you want, but I always liked how respectful he was of his opponents. Canelo is also very respectful. Ward was too. I appreciate when fighters don't clown their opponents.

I do not like Kovalev for acting like a resentful kid after some of his KO's in the way he mocked them. It's the same about bragging about "taking someone's sidepiece". No honor in those things. Have some self-respect and stop acting like you're 12 for christ sake

Wasnt abt him giving back the belt cause obviously he didnt need to. But thats sportsmanship at his finest. No problem here. Its better than some dummies still taunting the guy after beating them

True Floyd has always been nice to his opponent after beating them.

As others have pointed out in similar threads, this is a formality.

The belt belongs to dorticos...gassiev will get his own. It's a bit lame that they made such a big production of it.

I think it came from an honorable and respectful place, but I agree with you, it was a bit over the top. Though they had a tough fight, so Gassiev being magnanimous in victory shows his class. If it made Dorticos feel a bit better in defeat, good. Lord knows he earned it by hanging tough through some atomic punishment. Clearly, Gassiev will still be officially recognized as the belt holder, and he'll have to pay for another if Dorticos keeps the physical strap. I'm on the fence about this.

Nah.. that's Dorticos' belt for good, man. The ex-champ always gets his belt back and they make a new one for the new champ. The handing over of the belt at the end of the fight is just symbolic. Usually it ain't handed back in person though, or filmed, I think normally they'd get it back in the post after a few weeks. How'd think all these ex-champs have trophy cases full of belts if they have to hand them on each time there's a new champ?
