Lawsuits are similar to opening a negotiation. If you want 1.2 million you dont sue for 1.2 million you sue for 5 million or I guess 10million then it is brought down.
This is done by the lawyers not by the fighters. I'm pretty sure Corrales will only be awarded a percentage of his potential purse.
Like others said he spent a few months of his life working hard and should be compensated. Not to mention that he has accrued cost during training camp i.e. sparring partners salaries, renting gym etc.......
The thing is Gary Shaw and Bob Arum are probably able to sue Castillo also for monies invested and lost due to the cancelation of the fight. I think those law suits have the potential to hurt Castillo more than the Corrales suit. They both claim to have invested millions which were not recuped from the tickebox and monies held back from them by Showtime.
Perhaps.
Castillo would be finished if they ruled in Corrales and Shaw's favor.
All he has to do is put all his assets in someone he trust's name and then declare bankruptcy if the **** hits the fan.if it were me i'd just drop 100-200 grand on a very good lawyer and let him do the talking.

I dont think he can do that. He would be black balled.
