Cruiserweights are so much fun, forgotten?

Every fight it seems, even going back to the adamek and cunningham duels.

Why so little attention on this weight class and tournament? Multiple fight of the year candidates and no network deal?

It’s a shame but most cruisers end up going to hw.

They have my attention now. I usually hate tournaments but this one has been very well run and didn't take for ever to complete. Cruiserweights have some very good exciting fighters now. It's a strong deep weight class.

Of course. That's where the best money is. Some cruiserweights probably weigh 210 or 215 on fight night so they sort of are heavyweights anyway.

          - Foreign dominated/noobs have consistently labelled it a wasteland even at points where it was a candidate for the deepest in the sport because none of the fighters are hyped over here.

          - Obsession with the word "heavyweight". Every day people lament the arrival of abnormally gigantic & generally not very entertaining fighters in the heavyweight division, wish they could watch HWs the size of Povetkin, Tyson, etc fight each other without being jabbed out of the title by a 7 footer. Obviously that's why cruiserweight was created but people are still obsessed with the name heavyweight.

As such it ends up being a feeder division & becomes redundant (because they just move up, get jabbed out of the title by a 7 footer).

It's been a fun division which has often had exciting fights, so it's strange it has often gone under the radar.

Maybe because a lot of the fighters don't speak fluent English. They don't get a chance to get across/build their personality, which turns off the TV channels and fans don't get to see so much of them.

I think the same can be said for 115, certainly until recently anyway. CW and 115 have been stacked of late. Easily 2 of my favourite divisions.

The cruiserweight division is a relatively new creation. It's only been around since 1979.

So there is very little history. Add to that the fact that if you are that big you might as well be fighting in the much sexier heavyweight division.
