A lot of guys dominated or were champions at 130/135/140 but ended up just being contenders at 147..

Broner, Danny Garcia, Tim Bradley, Marquez, Guerrero, Khan, ..

It's another level up. Judging by the eye test though, Bud looks to be the real deal. I think he beats Spence and Thurman eventually

People also forget that Crawford is going to be fighting bigger, stronger, and more hard-hitting punchers compared to guys at 140.

        because bud isnt done growing.

if bud fought Spence tomorrow he would lose. but 1 year from now bud will be a full fledged welterweight and then the real questions will be answered.

I'm a huge Crawford fan and want him to take over at 147, but I totally agree that the welters are overall a much better crop than what Crawford had at 140 and he's going to be up against it if the fights can be made. I think Thurman is way underrated too, as far as his skills.

Crawford is going to dominate 147. The division is among the weakest in the sport. The only other star at 147 is Errol Spence and the verdict is far from out on him as he hasn't fought anyone yet.

Crawford is undefeated in his 3rd division with ZERO controversial wins. He comes to fight and he tries to finish his opponents.

I like TC to take over 147 and finish his career at JMW. Spence is the only guy I can see giving him trouble, but I still favor TC in that fight.

Thurman, Danny, Porter...these guys are 1-2 levels beneath a TC. Don't get me wrong they are good fighters, but nowhere near elite level - not even close.

In fact I'd favor 41 year old Floyd and 39 year old Manny to sweep Thurman, Porter, and Garcia. Porter is the only one of those three that has any shot simply because he dives in head-first and makes it ugly. Porter is also probably the worst fighter of the three, but in the advanced part of their career Floyd and Manny could struggle with the ruggedness.

One thing about Crawford is he doesn't like being walked down.
Nor does he like doing the same thing in the opposite direction.
He wants it in the middle of the ring.
Diaz was almost helpless on the ropes, yet TC remained cautious.
Which is why Spence's size and style would be a nightmare for him.

TC has his work cut out for him for sure. He's in with bigger guys and a lot more talent. He may get through them all, but I don't know. Porter, Thurman, Spence all seem like really close fights to me. This won't be easy by any means. The division is looking exciting, though, as long as they actually fight each other.

Not everyone thinks that first & foremost.

                  I think a small-ish % at best think he'll dominate.

Most cats are in a wait & see mode with this transition to 147. This will be Crawford's 3rd weight division & his most competitive weight division. So if he were to run through 147 in similar fashion to 135 & 140 that'd be highly impressive. But thats a lot to overcome & I think its unlikely he'll be able to do similar work to his previous success in divisions.

                    He wont'

OP is spot on. If yu made a list of the guys crawford has beat that ar "big wins", then you compare that list to the top guys at 147 it's extremely polorized.

Thurman would probably kill gamboa, for example
