That is a big part of it. Madison Square Garden would have to come up with more money than Las Vegas, net of taxes, to entice GB to stage the fight in NYC. It simply can't compete financially with Las Vegas. And it is Cinco de Mayo -- And it is Cinco de Mayo -- a big Mexican American day of celebration.. I don't know how many Mexicans and Mexican Americans there are in the New York area, but Vegas is close to California, Colorado, Arizona and other population centers with heavy Mexican influence. Someone might point out that NYC area has a big Puerto Rican population, but the PR community has not exactly embraced Canelo in the same way perhaps as most Mexicans embraced Cotto, Arguello or Duran.
