Comments Thread For: IBF Prez: WBA Made a Very Important Move in Elevating Dorticos

The head of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), Daryl Peoples, made it clear that for his organization it was extremely important that the WBA change the championship status of Russian boxer Denis Lebedev, making the semi-final of the World Boxing Series (WBSS) between Murat Gassiev and Yunior Dorticos a true unification.

these clowns over at the wba still have multiple champs in other divisions. they deserve no credit until they eliminate all the extra belts.

This is great news. One step closer to having an undisputed Cruiserweight champion.

It's great to see another undisputed champion so soon after Crawford did it last year.

Looking forward, the Joshua/Parker winner and Canelo/Golovkin II winner will have 3 belts, so one fight away from even more more undisputed champions.

Gassiev should be holding the WBA belt then, he beat Lebedev.

it dont matter, tomorrow russian is putting cuban down with a liver shot in 5th-6th round.

The champ is the champ, there is no other, regular just means second best or even less
These alphabet people are from all these banana republics where they are used to dictators with dozens of meaningless medals

It's a little more complicated than that. There's no such thing as a WBA regular championship. That is a nick name the media has given to the world championship when the division also has a super champion.

But who is the "real" champion isn't so cut and dry. The great fighters of the past were champions of the world, not champions of the super. An argument could be made that the world title is the real WBA title and the super title is an honorary award like the WBC's diamond belt.

That's my point, ergo the "regular " isn't a championship at all, its just bull**** , Walmart glitter
