Linares is a good fighter. I don't think he is on the level of a Mikey. At 135 right now I'd pick him over anyone except Mikey. He has bounced back from his early struggles.

As for a Loma fight, I would pick Loma based on what I've seen. I think Linares could make it a good fight for 3-5 rounds, then I think Loma imposes his will on him and shuts him out the 2nd half of the fight.

He already has losses so he's on the scrapheap with the casual wannabe hardcores.

I was surprised he became a relevant fighter again after the Sergio Thompson loss. Definitely not as naive/vulnerable as he used to be.

As a PROMOTER, what do you expect him to do?

He is not my favorite but I like him. He fights decent competition and has good skills and an eye pleasing style.

His resume sucks. Good run of confidence boosters that started after the DeMarco and Thompson stoppages, but it's been too long now. It's been the longest run of fighting straight up C fighters i've seen a #1 ranked fighter have. Just a line of mediocre fighters that are even worse than him. It's ridiculous, and some even hype him up. That guy gets crushed as soon as Oscar decides to put him in against even a B fighter.

What's not to like? He throws beautiful combinations, fights with passion, has heart, is willing to travel and doesn't back down from a challenge and after been completely written off after two back-to-back losses has done really well for himself getting to the top of his 3rd division and has unified there.
