  • Comments Thread For: Roy Jones Jr. Says This Is His Final Fight, But Do We Believe Him?

By Corey Erdman - Roy Jones Jr. has been a professional boxer for almost as long as I have been alive. By the time I started covering boxing professionally, the boxer I had grown up watching, idolizing and imitating on the basement heavy bag was still fighting, gripping onto his last strands of relevance as a true contender...

I hope this is his last, before he suffer from a injury that can't be fixed.

Don't think it'll be his last, & I'll always think he's in need of money. Why suffer KO after KO & losses against guys he would've destroyed in his prime??! His sense of pride & honor for the sport is out the door, he NEVER tries to redeem himself in rematches and in the ring looks delusional and unconcerned after being informed he's lost a fight. He's gonna milk his name while he can so he can financially pay off & maintain his mansion & assets.......He always use to say he didn't want to end up like his boy Gerald Mcclellan, then all of a sudden he's using a divine religous position to convince himself he should continue to fight as if he's somehow exempt from ending up the same way, and believes that us fans have some weird desire to see him in the ring getting plastered over & over again........sad "money" moves...

Let's see, if my memory is still working Jones has already been nearly beheaded by Tarver, Johnson, Lebedev and (drum roll) Maccarinelli, and at least a bit brain-scrambled by Danny Green (ouch!).

Nevertheless, he sounds almost perfect on air as a commentator. Perhaps he's one of those George Chuvalo-like granite heads. I sure hope so.

I get what your saying but you can end up like the G-man in your first pro fight or getting hit by a car. It's roys brain and body let him do what he wants lol. I personally think he should stop but hey what can you do. Another L for Roy.
