You can say he's only ever fought bums but any fighter that can go 40-0 and KO all of his opponents is doing something right

Stiverne was NEVER a top 10 HW, he just got in there by cherry picking and his promoter. You think Dillian Whyte is top 10 right now? he's the no1 challenger in the WBC.....****ing BS!

Doesn't mean the WBC doesn't play favorites. Father Sulaiman and Don King were very close and worked hand in hand in many ways. But bribery? No. Bribery is how the WBA and IBF did business (and the WBO was founded by the head of the WBA's bribery operation).
The truth is that Don King simply knows how to work the system. No bribes are needed. Stiverne won the title fair and square. Stiverne lost the title fair and square.
After Stiverne lost the title, he fell to #5 in the ratings. He lost by decision. Falling further than #5 would have been quite uncommon for a WBC champion losing by decision.
Then, everybody in front of Stiverne (except for Povetkin), lost or retired. So Stiverne lucked into an eliminator with Povetkin. Had Stiverne won that eliminator fair and square, there would have been far fewer complaints about him being the mandatory. Unfortunately, Povetkin failed another drug test.
At that point, due to multiple failures from Povetkin, years had gone by without a mandatory defense. King made the legal argument that the WBC must name the highest ranked contender as the mandatory as it was not Stiverne's fault that Povetkin cheated. Keep in mind that fight was canceled on less than a day's notice. After Stiverne had already paid for a full training camp, traveled overseas, etc.
That is how Stiverne became the mandatory. An unfortunate set of circumstance. Kudos to Wilder that he was willing to take a pay cut to convince Stiverne to fight Breazeale in an eliminator. Had Stiverne won that fight fair and square, a rematch with Wilder would have been more marketable.
But then King Kong failed another test.
And so, we got stuck with Wilder vs. Stiverne II. I wasn't happy about it. You weren't happy about it. The WBC certainly wasn't happy about it.
But bribery? No. That's a very serious accusation. It's untrue and it's unfair. Moro is not perfect, but he does not accept bribes. I know because I've tried.
