    A little hard on Tarver?

Tarver has not made himself the easiest to like in the boxing world. I will admit that he has even had me bitter. I am so glad Hopkins won and how he won, but I think many are a little harsh on Tarver.

Tarver really has been a blessing to Boxing in general. How many guys have gone back in rematches of fights they've lost to avenge their defeats?

    Lost to Harding
Came back to knock him out brutally

    Lost to Jones
Came back to knock him out

    Lost to Johnson
Came back to work his but off and outwork Glen to a decision

    Impressive performance vs Montell Griffen

He beat a bit over half of the name LHWs of this era and was always willing to fight.

He created some entertainment with his comments without resorting to talking about eating children and fondling women.

Not the easiest to like, but you can respect what he has accomplished late in his career.

Tarver asked for it. If you talk so much **** and then cannot back it up you ruin things for yourself. In ever big fight that Tarver has had he looses then comes back to win. If you want to be known as the "legend Killer" and you want to retain any respect that might come from such a name and many of the other bragadocious things that you say then you have to be able to back it all up. A true legend killer etc would not loose fist then come back and win. He would win first then win again. Look at Floyd, many hate him but he comes in and wins in all his big fights (Except Castillo, in which he was arguably given a gift then he came back and won in the second fight) But out of all of his other big fights he has won and won impressively.

Tarver has repeatedly talked about his disgust for the boxing establishment in general and how they have yet to give him his due...

He was right, most diehard fans had refused to give Toney T. his due, most fight fans just kept hanging on and were not ready to fully commit, they (myself included) were not ready to say that Antonio Tarver is one of the very elite fighters in the sport-even though rankings wise he was in elite company.

Well was the establishment right? Were the diehards smart for once...instead of rushing to judgment on a fighter and a particular performance did we finally look for a bit more substance...

Bernard Hopkins proved most fight fans right, he showed us in humiliating fashion why most just refused to give in when it came to Antonio Tarver and the term great.

Thank you Bernard and kudos to the boxing public who refuse to be awed by 1 left hand in 1 fight (I know the Harding fight too-but Tarver was getting embarrassed in that fight when he struck gold)...our su****ion was right...Tarver aint **** after all and it comes as no surpise to most!
