Comments Thread For: BoxingScene.com's Television Picks of The Week

The best fight of the week on paper won’t air on a major US network. There isn’t even the scarcely available Audience network that aired some of the World Boxing Super Series quarterfinals. That’s not excuse not to watch as it appears the website for the big cruiserweight tournament will be there for fans. Usyk (13-0, 11 KO) will attempt his fourth WBO title defense and Briedis (23-0, 18 KO) his first of the WBC in this critical semi-final contest. Usyk is on the road to Briedis’s native Latvia. It is the first unification bout for both men with the chance to finish unifying the division in the final. Whether or not these styles clash for a memorable fight, the best are fighting the best at 200 lbs. and in a sporting sense we can ask for little more.

Yeah a pretty good weekend of boxing homie. Just too bad its Usyk/Briedis and not Gassiev/Dorticos cos we already know Usyk gonna win.

Gassiev vs Dorticos is next weekend. Not far ahead. Yeah I think nobody give Briedis a shot.

My favourite for the title is Dorticos cos he a "MONSTER". I think he stops both Gassiev and Usyk but i won't bet on it doe..

Back to back weekends baby! thats great news. Dorticos could do it against Gassiev by KO, but I don't know about Usyk - that movement will be a problem. I'm rooting of Gassie to win the tournament.

Edivaldo Ortega vs. Drian Francisco could be fun to watch this Saturday too, and my Boy Linares might have some complications if Gesta can keep the pressure for 12 rounds, but I expect him to win a UD -- love his technique.

Richard Schaeffer has screwed the pooch with his role in the WBSS. He is 'Chairman of the Americas'. WTF has he done? I'm a fan of Schaeffer, but I have to call it like it is. His job was to sell these fights to a US network and simply put he has not delivered. I've heard they are changing the package (which was originally all or nothing) to potentially a fight-by-fight deal, but we'll see. It sucks either way.

It sucks that there is no US tv for the WBSS.

So we can watch the Usyk fight on the WBSS website? For the last WBSS fight I wanted to watch, there was no stream because it was "available" in the US on some no-name channel I never heard of.

What's the deal? Will there be a stream for the Usyk fight? I really hope so.
