    You're right!

I guess "They" haven't moved him up...

Even though it's a computer generated formula to calculate the rankings, I do believe it requires some human interaction to move fighters through all the weight classes and post upcoming fights and results...

Don't they mean middleweight? Hard to rate him as an all-time heavy against the likes of Tarver.....

I wouldn't rank Hopkins above Joey Maxim, but I guess the 'experts' know best. Either way, Bernard did what many Middleweights failed to do and now he's immortal. He's a smart man, I will give him the respect that he deserves.

My understanding is that BoxRec generates its ratings via a computer program. Essentially, this is done to avoid subjectivity, it was claimed.

Well and good. But Hopkins has fought only twice as a LightHeavy: his pro debut which he lost by MD (from which he earned the whooping sum of US$350.00) and against Tarver. That's 50%. What mathematics in the world grants such a lofty rating to a 50% fighter--All-Time or at anytime?

Moreover, if two or three fight records must be factored into the reckoning, Hopkins' two-fight LightHeavy record should be stacked up against fighters who fought two, three or four times and won all. There are quite a number of them. If such is done, BoxRec's logic dictates that they should be ranked higher than Hopkins and most of everyone else on that all-time list, thus relegating Charles, Moore, Conn, Foster, and company near the tail-end of the list, or, totally bumped out. Spinks won all his fights at LightHeavy so he should be in there somewhere, slugging it out with those unknowns for the top spot. Unless of course BoxRec's math could somehow find some ways to take Spinks out of there as well.

If it is argued that Hopkins won a world title fight while the others who won all their respective few outings didn't, then the question must be asked: what is Spinks with all those sterling title defenses doing not being ranked stratospherically?

I don't get it. But then, I've never really been good in math.

Boxrec is garbage, pure and simple.
