I'm denying it. Maidana was the WBA world champion and had just beaten Broner (and taken Broner's 0). Khan brought nothing to the table but his name. Maidana was considered the more dangerous fight.

Khan fought on the undercard to become Floyd's mandatory and was the plan for September, but when Floyd vs. Maidana was so close, there was more demand for a rematch than there was for a Khan fight.

He didn't fight Khan because there was more demand for a Maidana rematch. He was never supposed to fight Maidana twice. He was supposed to fight Khan after Maidana, which is why Khan was on the undercard and positioned as the mandatory.

But Floyd vs. Maidana ended up being closer than expected, and a rematch is what the public wanted. So Khan got bumped.
