Khan is the most avoided boxer in history. The lower weight classes are still in existence only because it gives fighters an excuse not to fight him.

I don't know why he didn't fight Khan but I can't imagine he ducked him out of worrying about losing to him. I think Mayweather could be very sick with a bad case of the flu and still get out of his sick bed and easily knock out Khan. The difference in skills, ring smarts, toughness and stamina is as wide as the grand canyon. The Maidana who fought Mayweather was a much better fighter than the Maidana who lost to Khan. Maidana had tried for years to get a rematch with Khan to no avail. I think Maidana would have KOed Khan in a rematch. Khan went life and death with mediocre Diaz and just barely won in England. His chances of beating Mayweather are zero in my opinion and I am not a big Mayweather fan. I just know he was very good and much better than any version of Khan.

He did. Khan won Floyd's next opponent poll & beside that had a practically identical resume to Maidana plus had beaten Maidana.

Floyd had difficult moments with fast guys, never with guys trying to knock him out. Even mediocre fast guys like judah had moments on floyd. It was a wise decision to use Broner's loss to his advantage & take the more predictable opponent in Maidana.

I for one Im glad Floyd fought maidana. Maidana fought everybody and had a tougher life. Khan there banking on him getting KO against a breidis presscott and losing to Garcia then waiting for a big money fight off of his name. Money May went with the one who earned and deserved it not begged for it.

Ok so I actually agree Khan is a more difficult opponent than Chino but all I read from those voting figures is Khan has a bigger social media following, I actually believe the Maidana fight after the Broner win would have done higher figures than a Khan fight stateside, also I’d like to add Garcia who beat Matthysse on a Floyd card and had a KO win over Khan would have been a bigger fight still but yet an easier fight for Floyd. They were obviously building towards an AB fight before he lost to Chino who better to take his place, look how it played out when they were looking at Berto vs Floyd, Floyd fought the guys who beat him !

Maidana beat Lil Floyd Junior Adrien Broner. There was a story to be sold there.

Also, Maidana was a champion, which made the Mayweather vs Maidana fight a unification fight. Khan was a nobody with no belt or status at welterweight.

Finally, there FOUR Polls set up. Maidana WON THREE of those polls and Khan only won ONE, and only because he rallied his twitter/facebook fans to vote for him.

Khan didn't deserve shieeet, and no one ducked him.

Big Mayweather fan here, Yes Maidana was a champion. Trying to downplay Khan makes zero sense here. If he was a nobody Mayweather would not put him on his poll on his own website... Whether he rallied his people or not is irrelevant to me.

Again no one claimed Khan deserve anything, going by the thread and looking at things objectively, yes I thought Mayweather avoided him. Trying to claim Khan is a nobody isn’t going to change that am afraid lol.

Floyd saw Khan as being too problematic. Khans speed would have given him a chance in the fight and Floyd knew it. If he failed to KO him, there was a damn good chance he'd lose on the cards.
