What Were Lamont Peterson and Robert Easter Jr Doing?

For whatever reason, Peterson was trying to slug it out against Spence, the bigger and stronger fighter. Who told him that'd be a good idea? Dude pulled a Broner. He stood there with a high guard, and rarely let his hands go, allowing Spence to tag him nonstop. Did he forget that he has boxing skills? He would've probably lasted longer, had he used them.

Honestly, I can't tell if Easter either sucks at using his reach, or fights like the smaller guy intentionally. This is the 3rd time he's looked average against a nobody, yet he's calling out Mikey Garcia and Jorge Linares? You could argue that Commey, Shafikov and Fortuna won. Dude always fights in the pocket, despite always having the height and reach advantage. If he fights Garcia or Linares the way he just fought Fortuna, he's getting wrecked.

Not sure what Easter was doing but if Peterson had tried that moving around like he did against Garcia he still would've been stopped. Garcia has trash footwork. Spence would've hunted him down and finished him. Really wasn't a gameplan for Peterson to win that fight.

That was first time I saw Easter fight and I definitely had him losing it. Hell, he should of not had the win had there not been a point deduction right?

I also thought he wasn't using his height which is clearly his advantage. Why give it up and fight down to the smaller guy in his territory? Not intelligent or too ignorant to use his advantages? Don't know but I can't see him beating a top quality opponent. Garcia would obliterate him and Linares would box circles around him.

Peterson had fought once since 2015 so I dunno how he was supposed to not getting stopped, letting alone being competitive with a murderer like Spence.

As I said in the other thread, Peterson and Easter were just trying to "give the fans what they want" - stand and trade, just slug it. Don't "run", just throw.

Spence was too much better than Peterson for any battle plan to work. Easter is just not very good and the weakest of the 135 pound champions. Furtuna won in my opinion and Fortuna isn't very good either. Mikey or Loma would beat Easter with ease in my opinion. Unless Easter is matched really soft he won't be champion much longer.

You're right about Peterson. Lamont fought Garcia as if Danny could punch like Tyson. Peterson was on his bike the first half of the Garcia fight, playing defense and giving away the first half of the fight.
Then he's in with a great body puncher like Spence and he's standing in front of the guy and trading from round one.
It's true that Spence moves better than Garcia, but you still gotta wonder about Peterson's strategy (or lack of one).

Peterson was screwed no matter what, but I don't think he would've went out like he did, if he boxed.
