Comments Thread For: DiBella: There's No Way Easter-Fortuna Will Be a Boring Fight

Lou DiBella isn't certain whether Javier Fortuna's power will be as effective against an elite-level lightweight as it was when he knocked out opponents in lower weight classes. DiBella does know that the extremely confident Fortuna isn't bluffing when he says he is coming to take out Robert Easter Jr. on the Errol Spence Jr.-Lamont Peterson undercard Saturday night in Brooklyn. Easter (20-0, 14 KOs) is a 4-1 favorite over Fortuna (33-1-1, 23 KOs), who has held world titles at featherweight and super featherweight.

This will be entertaining Lou.....Fortuna, an excellent athletic and unorthodox fighter but we all know athleticism alone only carries you to B-C level and unfortunately we've seen the best of Javier- getting hit/boxed throws him off....plus the height advantage: Easter by late stoppage.

Very nice fight for the undercard! Hopefully Easter Jr. moves to 140 next! Nobody at 135 wants that work! At 5'11" 140lb. should not be a major difference!

No need for Easter Jr to leave the weight, as long as he's making it good, tbh. Folks can't avoid him forever.

On top of that, he's already been able to move a ton of tickets for the biggest venue in Toledo; no idea what the travel distances are like, but Cincinnati and Cleveland are there for him to build out too.

Keep defending his belt, continue to grow as an attraction in Ohio, and as the money gets bigger and bigger, folks will be left having to fight him sooner than you'd think

Mikey Garcia is Easter's only hope @ 135, and he just took a pass. However @ 140, Prograis, Barthelemy, Omar Figueroa Jr., and Indongo are all with PBC, and those are good fights! At a minimum, those are all better than the entire IBF Top 15! Maybe it will be easier to get Mikey at 140, than 135?

I didn't like this fight for Fortuna since it was made. The advantages that he is giving up make this a very tough fight for him. I wish him well and I know anything can happen but the odds are against him.

Easter Jr could still defend his IBF belt across Ohio and draw money. If Mikey goes to 140, who's earnestly there for Linares to earn even a decent purse against at 135lbs if not Robert Easter Jr?

Fortuna just can't seem to stay focused throughout the entirety of the fight. He was beating Sosa but got sloppy and Sosa took advantage. Easter is no Sosa and seems to have learned that fighting tall should be his thing. My prediction is that Fortuna gets stopped rounds 7-9.
