Comments Thread For: DiBella: If Spence Dominates Peterson, There With Crawford, Loma

Lou DiBella anticipates Lamont Peterson testing Errol Spence Jr. on Saturday night. DiBella, who's promoting the card headlined by the Spence-Peterson fight, considers the experienced Peterson just the type of opponent that'll tell us how ready Spence is to move closer toward the top of pound-for-pound lists. If Spence stops Peterson, which only Lucas Matthysse has done, or dominates him on his way to a 12-round win, DiBella would consider it quite an impressive statement from the unbeaten IBF welterweight champ.

Spence will be remembered as the Andre Ward of the Welterweight division.

Tim Bradley showed Peterson levels way before Lucas.

My point is that beating PEDerson doesn't put Spence on Loma's level. In fact, Crawford isn't even on Loma's level with his weak resume. Loma just completely embarrassed a top 5 lb for lb fighter.

I think Spence has what it takes to dominate the division but the only thing I would say is Spence needs to work on his defense a little more and add some movement. Other than that the dude can fight, I don't think a win over Lamont makes him top five p4p he needs to beat Crawford or Thurman to do that.
