Comments Thread For: The Road to Keith Thurman-Errol Spence Begins (! Or ?)

By Cliff Rold - It wasn't obvious right away but, eventually, the culmination of the first two years of the Premiere Boxing Champions took pretty clear shape. Last year's welterweight unification showdown between Keith Thurman and Danny Garcia was the destination that emerged. For all the ups and downs of the PBC, it was their finest piece of promotional execution. Airing in prime time on CBS, before a packed house in Brooklyn, it's peak rating was the highest in boxing for all of 2017 in the US...

It will take an act of God.

Garcia will never fight Spence and Thurman certainly won't fight Spence in 2018. In 2020 maybe but then again, spence may be a jr middle by then.

This has been clear for years now. The Internet and Floyd Mayweather and Errol Spence were all calling for a Thurman-Spence fight for at least three or four years now. Literally. Thurman has one excuse after another. But beating Porter and Garcia his last two fights almost makes up for it. The truth is this fight needs to happen sooner rather than later. Neither one is Mayweather, neither one is unbeatable. Either one could potentially be outboxed. Someone with good movement.

Wilder-Joshua doesn't matter as much because neither one has much of a chance of losing to anyone but each other. Same is true of Mikey Garcia and Lomachenko. However, Spence, Thurman, and Crawford all are going to be fighting better opponents. While after those three there is a drop off, Garcia, Porter, Vargas, Khan, Ali, Peterson, Horn are all live opponents. There is no reason that Thurman-Spence shouldn't be happening immediately. But Thurman is scared, he is milking this for all he can. He never stepped up in competition until Porter. Than he beat him and then Garcia. Now he wants people to say how he is the best ww and the champ and just how awesome and great he is. But one problem is those are his only two fights in the last two and a half years. And the other problem is either Spence or Crawford would probably beat him. Spence might hit him in the ribs so hard he won't be able to breath and will die of asphyxiation.

Let him get through Pederson first. Despite the hype and name dropping spence has kept a low profile and a level head, which is amazing for someone of his talent. So he really needs to dispose of pederson first.

Does 2019 not exist in your universe for some reason?

Thurman vs. Spence is penciled in for early March next year on CBS is both keep winning.

I hope for at least 2 of these fights this year Thurman-Spence Crawford-Spence Crawford-Garcia Spence-Garcia and Thurman-Crawford. Unfortunately we will be lucky if we get one of them.

spence-garcia is the only fight on that list that is even remotely possible this year. the others have absolutely no chance of happening and even spence-garcia is unlikely.

Thurman will never get in the ring with Spence, lol. We all know Thurman and his lack of balls.
