I don't see why everybody thinks Taylor is going to beat Winky. I don't really believe Taylor has the style necessary to upset such a great defensive fighter like Winky Wright. In his two fights against Hopkins, a defensive fighter in his own right, Taylor struggled to land at a high connect percentage.
Some might argue that that was because it was Taylor's first real big fight and being in the spotlight took him out of his game, and that is a legit counterpoint in it's own right. However I just think Taylor is too young and inexperienced to upset a guy like Winky. Someone who has travelled the world and dwelled in obscurity for many years of his career.
I think Wright's style is just one of those perfect strategies and if Taylor beats Winky I'll be extremely surprised. I see Winky dominating Taylor in the same style he did Trinidad, look for Winky's jab output per round to be 50+.Comment

I think Taylor is going to beat Winky but If Winky comes out as impressive as he did against Tito, I could see him pulling another great Win. I cant really decide yet, Im pikcing Taylor but that could change.Comment

I think the biggest draw of this fight is just the sheer possibilities. Both fighters involved have impressive careers, good chins, good defense and the ability to take out the other. I think that's why it's so hard to pick who you think is going to win on this one.
I haven't made up my mind yet and I don't think I'm going to. I think I'll just watch the fight Saturday night like everybody else and see what happens. I think both fighters have the potential for victory. Taylor is a hard puncher, if Winky lets his guard down and Taylor can catch him on the chin with a straight right hand I can see Winky hitting the canvas.
However if Winky employs a similar strategy for Taylor that he did for Trinidad I don't see how Taylor would get said opportunity.
All I can say is it's going to be a thrilling fight.Comment

this fight opened at even money however taylor is now the favorite.Originally posted by paulmmvhes not winky and taylor are even money in this fight at least that what they said last night
this can be explained most likely simply cause of the hype coming from taylor that he is training in the kronk with manny steward and hes gonns come out better than before, and that wright is in vegas being distracted.
it is a pretty even fight but make no mistake, the majority of monet bet so far has been on taylor.Comment

I don't see any problem on Winky being the underdog. That's simply a reflection that there are more people willing to bet on Taylor than Winky.
Forget about the underdog thing, it has no bearing on the would be result of the fight.

Thanks, I've been a fan of boxing for years and years. I used to write about it for a local paper and I've always been a fan of boxingscene and it's forums. I just never really got involved in forums too much. However this one I think I will stay at for quite some time. Good posts, intelligent posters, and a wide variety of opinion and insight.Originally posted by Queensdawggood first post man.. keep it up.. i feel the same way..

And your counterpoint about Emmanuel is a valid one. Nobody in the history of the sport has a traning record for champions and big fights like Emmanuel. I think the combination of Emmanuel in his corner and Hopkins cheering for him in the crowd is going to produce a Jermain Taylor we've never seen before....the champion he's always been.Comment

Taylor deserves to be the favorite. His accomplishments at middleweight outweigh Winky's thus far.Comment
