  • Comments Thread For: Chocolatito Warns Estrada: Do Not Stand in Front of Sor Rungvisai

Former four division world champion Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez has advised his former opponent, Juan Francisco 'Gallo' Estrada of Mexico, to avoid standing right in front of Srisaket Sor Rungvisai of Thailand. Last year, Gonzalez was defeated twice by the hard punching WBC super flyweight world champion.

So now that Chocolatito just took three beatings, HBO is going to push for Chocolatito-Estrada immediately, but when he was in his prime, they refused to push for Chocolatito-Inoue immediately because they wanted to make more money off of it instead of just making the fight immediately, giving their subscribers good value, and making way more money off the rematch, and off Inoue, in the future, than they will now that they wasted his chance to get the Chocolatito fight when Chocolatito was still in his prime.

Typical strategy of HBO and Showtime, which continues to ruin boxing. Just make every big fight at the earliest opportunity, and even bigger ones will materialize afterwards. Stop marinating every single matchup as if it the last good matchup that will ever exist on earth, so every nickel has to be squeezed out of it. That's not how it works, and that line of thinking is ruining boxing.

Chocolatito already beat Estrada, and it seems they are trying to feed Gonzalez.

Im sure Estrada knows that. He style isnt anything like Roman’s anyway.. i mean Estrada isnt your stereotypical Mexican fighter. He has high ring IQ and moves gracefully inside that ring. He is like Finito Lopez and Marquez, your classic pure boxer-puncher.

Sor is a beast but Estrada is a professor in that ring.

        I cant wait!!

Good advice, but I kind of think Gonzalez decline was immediate, and had more to do with the ugly losses to Sor Rungvisai than Sor Rungvisai did. I like Sor Rungvisai, don't get me wrong. But Gonzalez looked bad in the second match, and drained in the first. He moved up one division too many, or he moved up several divisions too quickly.

I like Estrada in this one. Smart, hits hard at this division, and has improved since his loss to Gonzalez. Just think he has more tools in the boxing tool box than Sor Rungvisai.

I felt bad for him after that vicous KO but thinking back, you are right, he got what he deserved after acting like a diva and holding out on a good rematch with Estrada.

Funny now Estrada is in the driver’s seat and after he beats Sor, Roman gonna have to beg him for a rematch and he is gonna have to take less money too.

Its crazy how the tables turned. Im rooting for estrada hard. Maybe even get Estrada-Inioue. That would be a danm good fight. But inioue is definitely not fighting good competition though

Thats why im not renewing my Hbo or Showtime. The best fights are on Espn now, and Top Rank on Espn is going to get a lot bigger when fighters realize they can become household names and bigger stars and make more money fighting on Espn rather than Showtime or Hbo. Besides, there are other avenues to watch most Hbo and Showtime fights if you arent a subscriber. Lets hope Pbc fighters start migrating over to Top Rank once their contracts with Haymon end so we can see more big fights. Haymon has ruined boxing more than anything with the horrible match making. Espinoza is to blame too for allowing it
