I noticed in the 12th round against GGG he took a bit off the punches and threw them in combinations, and Golovkin struggled to keep up with the handspeed.

Ironically he should actually be a bit more Marquez like with the combinations, and mix in the hard punches/counters here and there.
Marquez was 37, nearly 10 years older than Nelo now when he sparked Katsidis in some badass rainbow uppercut combo work. There's still plenty of improvement for Nelo in the years to come. Nelo's 8 punch combo on Lil'G in the 12th trying to wreck his guard is some HOF Marquez style combos. It amazes me how Lil'G fans sleep on Nelo. I feels a bandwagon soon

Yeah, if he tap, tap, boom he will have alot more success imo but I also think Canelo power is not above average power, its respectable but its really not gonna do you in with a single shot either so he has to put more leather on you for the hurt to set in.

He developed a style to get the fans to like him and now that just his style and he had great success in the style that he fights in so I cant ridicule him too much. I do see him still improving in every fight so thats promising, hes only 27 so he still young even in boxing age so I see a bright future for him still ahead if he can dial it in some more and get it firing on all cylinders.

That's been some what of Canelo since he started fighting good / great competition, pacing himself through the fight. Maybe training at higher altitude will help? I think in general like some mentioned already is he needs to be a busier fighter but not unloading bombs more than half the time.

Yeah it works so you don't want to change him. Also I do think he needs to hit GGG hard from time to time to get his attention but definitely needs to run the combinations and concentrate on winning rounds, not doing damage.

He is too much of a jack in the box in that way. He doesn't really have a mental counter in terms of banking the round, he fights sporadically and when opportunities present themselves. I think this is definitely an area for improvement, he can learn when to put his foot down and when to let the round go.

From pudgy to ultra muscular, clearly, Memo Heredia is good at what he is doing--Marquez should recommend him to Canelo, his countryman.
That's the thing people tend to forget. It isn't like Memo gives him a shot and boom he's muscular. Marquez put in all the hard work and time and dedication. The steroids memo gave him allowed him to heel faster and continue training. Downside with that is his body really deteriorated and he's showing signs of all the other steroid user with their body breakouts and now breakdowns.
