  • Is Bernard Truly Retired

I must admit this would be the best retirement since Jordan's shot in 98 vs the Jazz but, I can't help but think that B-Hop will resurface around the end of this year to face Roy if he beats this guy impressively in July.

After the first JT fight he said that was the only time he felt like he knew that he lost a fight. Even the second fight with JT he didn't feel as if he lost that fight either. Although he said he wouldn't give Roy a chance I doubt that because the money for that fight would be big. Roy has a cult following similar to Tyson his fans would turn out and you know B-Hop's fans would turn out.

After hearing all of those people boo Tarver last night and I was their I mean it was more than half the crowd. The overall feeling was they hated him for taking down Roy. So a Roy and B-Hop rematch would still be huge.

I doubt very much he would rematch Roy. Roy played B-Hop out for years with the 60/40 split thing ,when i know B Hop needed a chance to prove himself. Now B Hop beat the man who wooped roy's azz. Bernard would be doing Roy a Huge favor. meanwhile Roy didn't return the favor in over 10 years.

I would like to see him fight one more time, a fight against Jones would have been huge a few years ago when they were both in their prime.

Roy didn't play B-Hop out with 60/40 Bernard was a sell out fighter until he beat Trinidad.

I will surely sound like an incurable romantic. But I'd like Hopkins to resist all lures, go to retirement as he promised and stay retired. Nothing he does in the future will eclipse what happened. Anything he'll do shall be a let-down.

I like the montage of images that my mind has retained out of Hopkins-Tarver never to be blighted by any future ring appearance by "The Executioner."

Scores later, when people speak of retirement drama, a number will talk about Jordan, but most will glow as they speak of Bernard.

If boxing legacies are to be discussed, people shall cite less the longest string of Middleweight title defenses that Hopkins holds--formidable a record as it is-- but enthuse more about how he put the final excalamation point on a sterling career marked not merely by excellent performances in the ring but also by the courage to take on the sport's powers-that-be.

i hope he stays retired. but i won't be pissed off by any means if they find a way to make hopkins jones for the fall. hopkins would have roy out of there before round 10 judging off his tarver-rubbermatch performance. if hopkins could ko roy jones, i'm sorry- but to me that's the absolute best possible ending for the hopkins career.
it is unfinished business and it will never not feel like unfinished business to hopkins and jones fans.

Hopkins is done. He is very happy the way his career ended last night, and he will not come back because he said so, and I believe him.

He had a fantastic HOF career, and what a way to end it last night by beating, Loud Mouth Tarver.

He also said for the right amount of money he would.

Thats my point for right amount of money he would and the money would be right for this rematch. The only reason why HBO offered so little for the rematch earlier this year is because they were both coming off of L's. Now that Hop beat Tarver and if Jones wins in July they would offer major cake for this match.

I'm sorry boxing needs to back as one of the premier sports. I mean you never hear about boxing on around the horn, PTI etc. The only way to bring in commercial fans is if fights are made between stars. Two fights in my opinion that could do that for boxing this year Oscar vs Floyd and B-Hop vs Jones imagine what that would do for Golden Boy Promotions
