Then, imo, he loses to Herrera, and of course doesn't give the guy a rematch. Smh I'm still ok with Garcia, because this IS a business, and Herrera seemed to have his number.

Then he holds the WBC belt hostage for 5 more months, and takes on a extremely overmatched salka. If he was going for ANOTHER gimme fight, should have given Herrera a rematch.

Then it took him EIGHT more months to fight again. And who does he fight? The inactive peterson. A guy who Matthysee KOed 3 fights earlier. Garcia could only get a mixed decision.

So after nearly 2 years of holding the WBC belt hostage, fighting no one of note, and questionable decisions, it was time for Garcia to step up.

Who does he fight? Mr feather fist himself, mallinaggi. Smh At this point, most fans said WTF????

After ANOTHER 5 months of holding the title hostage, he takes on guerrero who everyone knew was on the south side of his career. And who had just bearly eaked out a decision against a guy who had been KOed in his previous fight. Smh.

Then he takes TEN MORE MONTHS OFF, and fights Samuel Vargas, who had been KOed by Spence 4 fights earlier. After getting KOed by Spence, Vargas fights 3 tomato cans, and THAT'S who the WBC champ decides to fight???? After taking 10 months off???? Smh

Then, FINALLY, after nearly FOUR years of holding the WBC belt(s) hostage, and really fighting no one of note, he fights an actual threat in Thurman. And thank the boxing gods, he loses.

Like I said earlier, had he won, after another 8 month layoff, he would have another B rated fighter lined up. Milking that title, waiting for the next big payday. Pfffttt!

The above mentioned fights and schedule would have been acceptable for a contender, but the WBC champ, over nearly FOUR YEARS?? With all due respect, GTFOH.

Fighters like Garcia are what's wrong with boxing!
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    This.

I was a big fan after he beat Matthysse, since then he's just coasted along with mediocre fights and with overly long breaks in between.

... Herrera fight was Danny Garcia's last fight at 140lbs, so not really sure what your beef is here. Salka was a catchweight fight, and the Peterson and Paulie fights were both non-title at 147lbs, before he fought Robert Guerrero for the vacant WBC 147lb belt.

The hate doesn't add up when you actually lay out the reality.

Fans like you are what's wrong with boxing; ignoring reality to dwell on some slight you've built in your mind.

STFW if salka was at a catch weight? What you laid out, doesn't erase the long layoffs, and mediocre competition, (relative to him supposedly being an elite at 140/147.)

And his comeback fight is Rios?? Seriously? Does that impress you as well? Lol

All fighters have haters, but Danny has droves of them. Seven out of ten comments are negative on his threads, but you dismiss it as "group think".

You are either a Garcia fanboy, and/or you have extremely low standards.

Danny Garcia held nothing hostage, as much as that story has taken root in your head.

Danny Garcia lost a close fight to Keith Thurman, took a good bit of time off to rest his mind/body, and is not returning to the ring with a tickover fight against Brandon Rios.

Stick to reality for a moment.
