  • Will Fury be ready for April?

Fury is looking at an April return, assuming that he can drop that weight, and his first match will be a tune up, then this is an even bigger year for the HW division as we currently have four undefeated champions, and we may see at least three of them tee off at some point this year.

Big question is, Fury has lost a significant amount of weight, but I don't even think he's halfway there. Do you guys see him being ready for April? Mentally and Physically?

he better be ready, if he stays inactive any longer he can't claim he is the lineal champ anymore

He'll be ready for a tune-up fight for sure. He won't be in the same shape he was in for the klitschko fight but he often fought heavy earlier in his career. He's a natural fighter and as long as he stays away from the top 5 he'll be ok.

I've watched a few of his training videos this morning...he's leaner than I expected him to be (though still softer than buster mathis) but he's making progress, and he's looking surprisingly quick for carrying around that extra weight. I thought he would have no chance at an April return, but if you throw him in there for a tune up, I don't see why he won't be ready. He's clearly training hard.

We know he's gonna be in a tune up, but he better be fighting a straight up bum in it. While I'm sure they are trying to get sharp his entire focus now is weight loss and I'm not sure he'll have enough time to shake off all the rust that comes with treating yourself like crap for 2 years straight without an ounce of training. I'm honestly not even expecting him to look anywhere remotely decent in his first fight back but i'd be happy if he did

The guy got a ban for steroid use. How can he still be considered lineal by anyone?

No, he won't be. But, he needs to do it anyway because time's a wastin. He will do what all these guys do after they abuse their bodies and have a terrible tune up, blame it on ring rust, and promise to come back better. It's what he does after this that really matters. If he's ready to cash out, he goes straight into a title fight. If he's a serious boxer again, he takes another tune up.

Lineal has no sanctioning body. It's simply the Ric Flair of titles (the man who beat the man)

Holyfield was lineal twice IIRC, and he was roided to the gills.

So even if The Ring "Strips" Fury of that "title" they are just taking the belt, he can still claim it until he retires or he loses. There have been lineal champs who have had no alphabet titles titles at all (Shannon Briggs and Michael Spinks come to mind)
