  • Comments Thread For: Chocolatito Feels He Should Have Delayed Sor Rungvisai Bouts

Nicaragua's Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez (46-2, 38 KOs) accepts that he made a very hasty decision by heading right into an immediate rematch with Srisaket Sor Rungvisai of Thailand. Gonzalez made his super flyweight debut in September of 2016 and won a close decision over Carlos Cuadras to capture the WBC world title.

No.. that was a brutal KO and he beat him the first time as well there is no reason a 3rd fight should be made.

I never liked chocolatito and here is why, people were selling him like he was the next best thing after hot water and sliced bread, and he wasnt, the problem was he started to believe it too, asking for more money, having those demands that only A stars have and I am not sure he ever did, he got some controversial decisions on his favors and when one went against him I am sure he was dumbfounded and ask for an immediate rematch to teach Sora a lesson and it backfired. He should fight a his weight( fly maybe?) and start from 0, but he will also get little money.

chocolatito is a horrible racist term and I cant believe the PC mods let this outwardly blatant hatred get by them . that term is up there with the hate filled the MW "Kid Chocolate" peter quillin. calling Kelly Pavlik the ghost cause he is white is OK

I think he had every right to want more money. He was being showcased on HBO and going against tough opponents and delivering great action. Only right you get a pay increase if you step up to harder fights. Not like he was making $1m a fight or asking for the type of money Danny Garcia gets for Rod Salka.

Regarding the decisions. I'm an Estrada fan and I'd like to say I think he deserved the W over Roman but he didn't. It was competitive but not controversial. Same with the Cuadras fight which was a close but fair and clear decision. Rungvisai I was a poor decision in the eyes of many.

He has always been a very entertaining fighter and willing to face the best and travel into the lions den. He accomplished a lot too. He's cool in my book.

Hindsight is always 20/20 but I'm a firm believer in taking tune up fights when moving up to a new weight your body needs time to adjust. That's why Rigo got embarrassed, Brook got a facial fracture which may have ruined his whole career, Broner got mopped by Maidana which maybe ruined him, that and being a idiot lol... But it's going to take Roman a few fights to get over that KO loss.

Jesus Christ, i'd hate to be your wife as you are a hard ***ing person to please.
Choco is a great person in & out of the ring. If you cannot see his skill vs top fighters, then whatever.
If you don't appreciate the humility and respect that choco shows, then whatever.
If you think asking for a payday above his previous highest $400,000 after all his wars is demanding, then whatever!
