This fight should have happened when both were 30 to 32 at the latest, on neutral ground, with objective refs and judges. But obviously, that would have risked HBO's golden boy's undefeated record, so it didn't happen.
I agree, If Kovalev had a spectacular performance vs. Beterbiev, or Stevenson, I would definitely want to see the fight again, but I still DO NOT WANT TO PAY for the fight! I'm not going to pay to see Stevenson vs. Jack, I didn't pay to see Lomachenko vs. Rigondeaux, so I don't feel I should have to pay for Ward vs. Kovalev 3. I'd pay to see Ward vs. GGG @ 168! I'd pay to see Spence Jr. vs. Crawford! I'd pay to see Garcia vs. Lomachenko! And of course I WILL PAY to see Joshua vs. Wilder!

Ward isn't coming back. It's not like he left millions of dollars on the table when he retired. He doesn't strike me as the type that won't be able to stay away from the sport.

of course he's going to come back. he's done this before. rocnation was never the right fit for him. goossen wasn't either, not for a ppv run after floyd retired, but during his HBO and showtime days goossen got ward home field and solid money and did a very good job with him, all things considered.

i expect kovalev to clean up the division, hopefully clean up his act and stop drinking, and eventually get a third fight with ward, which he'll lose by UD.

IDK??? I still think Ward/Kov is a 50/50 fight. They should be 1-1 against each other.

round 1 of the first fight was basically round 13 of the seocn fight, the boxer had the puncher figured out for the most part. that's often how those matchups go. odds will be heavily in ward's favor for sure, if he can get active and looks to be the same fighter.

i sitll think it's worth seeing, however. the second fight was strange. tony weeks really blew it and allowed the fight to basically end on low blows. problem is revenue. rocnation probably won't even stay in boxing because of how badly they lost their shirts paying andre ward.

Maybe a better boxing IQ, but Ward will never be as mature as Kovalev...

The division was heating up and he didn't want to be involved in dangerous fights. Let's not forget he was keen on fighting Frank buglioni before he decided he was going to retire. He was apparently so tired of fighting yet was desperate to fight buglioni or bellew.
