Comments Thread For: WBC Will Soon Make Ruling on Stevenson, Alvarez, Gvozdyk Issue

Eleider Alvarez has officially notified the WBC that he is withdrawing from the WBC-ordered Interim World Championship fight against Oleksandr Gvozdyk. The WBC Board of Governors will now look into the effect of Mr. Alvarez' decision on the overall status of the division, and will produce an official ruling in the following days.

Time to strip Chickenson! He hasn't faced a mandatory in 5 years! Should not be just Alvarez's call.

WBC is a laughing stock at this point when it comes to the LHW division. Boxing is ran by crooks!

Alvarez-chan was treated bad, but he isn't exactly making a case for himself at this point. I feel sorry most for Gvozdyk-sama

Their ruling should be that Alvarez is a pucci and needs to be slapped.

Honestly, how a boxer can be so shook is beyond me. I know Gvozdyk has a big gvoz-DYK, but that is no escuse to run away scared with your tail between your legs.

Alvarez should throw his WBC silver belt in the trash on live tv, and go fight for the IBF, WBA, WBO belt

Hopefully Alvarez loses his mandatory position. He's had plenty of chances to force the mandatory but has taken several step-aside deals. Now he's ducked Gvozdyk.

The WBC needs to install Gvozdyk as the mandatory. Top Rank will definitely force that mandatory after Pimp-Jack. It would finally give the division a chance to pry the LHW crown away from Haymon. The divisional crown has become a travesty under Haymon's control.

That's the WBC, ladies and gentlemen. Allowing stuff like this...which is not surprising given that they allowed Wilder to have multiple voluntary defenses (and bend the rules) before he had his mandatory defense nearly three years after he won the belt...

Either way, Alvarez had his chance to fight for the belt and passed on it after Michel couldn't get a fight made between October and December. Now Stevenson is going to fight Jack and Alvarez is going to sit on the proverbial bench...AGAIN

Marcus browne, Sullivan Barrera and now Alvarez ducked/turned down fight with Gvozdyk...
All turned down a eliminator for a title shot
