Comments Thread For: Roman Gonzalez Will Not Rush To a Title Fight With Kal Yafai

Four division world champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez (46-2, 38 KOs) has returned to the Roger Deshon gym in Managua, Nicaragua, where he`s been working with trainer Gustavo Herrera, and he's also getting the support of physical trainer Alfredo Corrales. Besides them, Roman is being assisted by his father Luis Gonzalez.

Yeah so whats new? the only people expecting Gonzalez to return to challenge for a world title after a brutal KO and back to back loses were Mismatchroom.

Eddie Hearn would of loved that : Kal Yafai ducked Inoue but 'Chocolatito' been fighting the best for years and has nothing to prove to anyone! lets see these guys jump up in weight a couple times and fight the top champions in their prime! it takes them most of their career to get a decent win!

Shame that because i really think Kal is there for the taking even at this stage in RGs career. I understand 1hourRun's point about coming off two hard losses, but if they fought next i personally would make Gonzalez firm favourite.

People underestimate how bad of a style match up Rungvisai was for Roman. Kal is decent, but imo would be an easier fight stylistically.

gonzalez needs to ease back into the game with a tune up or two from there on you can talk about a shot at another world title

I don't know bro, but the fact that team 'Chocolatito' are talking about fighting in Nicaragua is a real bad sign : this means the opponent is going to be so poor to world standards that we will not be able to gauge were Gonzalez is at at this point in his career.

I was hopeful a couple days ago to see Roman return with at least a top 20 ranked caliber fighter because the Japanese scene had opening slots available around April but this report kills that possibility.

But I agree with your assessment of the Yafai-Choco match-up provided he still has enough left in the tank.

I find it funny you say this yet not too long ago everyone on here was talking **** about Kell Brook's upcoming fight at 154 coming off of back to back broken eye socket tko losses to Golovkin and Spence.

Just felt like pointing that out.

First of all, if Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez had been taking knees getting his eye sockets broken in by a featherweight then got owned by a prospect, I wouldn't even be here talking about if he should keep challenging for world title! Nice try!

Whoa I wasn't talking about you I was talking about the people who said this about Brook.

People coming off losses as severe as Gonzalez and Brook did should not be coming back and fighting another tough fight. That's the point I was trying to make, they deserve a pass.
