Comments Thread For: Claressa Shields Taking What's There

By Cliff Rold - Women's boxing had some interesting developments in 2017 on the US side of the Atlantic. For the first time, the Boxing Writer's Association of America has awarded a female fighter of the year. Amanda Serrano, a titlist in four weight divisions, brought women's world title action back to premium cable...

Its either that or go to MMA or even WWE.

She'd probably make more money doing either although she'd likely need to go to Japan to get MMA fights cuz there is probably as much if not less competition at 160+ for girls in MMA as there is in boxing. But the Japanese are big fans of freak show sh^t & don't shortchange mfers. They got Gabi Garcia (a big 200lb+ b^tch fighting over there now). And Garcia vs Shields would probably be a main event & get Shields her biggest career payday in an openweight fight.

That freak show **** sounds like a good idea maybe they can get someone a little smaller than gabi( that giant freak failed weight by 26 lbs in her last fight) to fight Claressa

Or instead of mma she can box gabi so she has some advantage

Duuuuuuude. That right there is a great idea actually. And I could see something like that getting made if Shields pursues options outside of boxing at some point.

She'd probably need to do it in the next couple yrs doe cuz Garcia's already 30 something & could only be in the game a couple yrs longer.

Would have to make it some MMA in boxing gloves fight doe cuz I feel like most boxing commissions wouldn't okay a fight with two girls who are 50-60ish lbs apart.

Yea especially cuz Clarissa gives up weight to fight at 168 her "true" weight class is 154

What makes you say that? She's been 165+ damn near her whole career (am & pro). I think she's a big a$$, thicc girl. She's damn near 6ft.

Idk that she could drop 14lbs. Although it might be in her best benefit to do so if she legit can cuz things get a whole lot more interesting in womens boxing the closer you get to 126-135lbs. She ain't making 135 obviously, but if she could get down to 154 or 147 theres more competition which would be great for her upside.

Christina Hammer is unfortunately just not that good.
She 'won' via blatant robbery against a late career Anne Sophie Mathis at junior middle (later changed to DQ) then raced back to middle to avoid a rematch & Cecilia Braekhus - who would of thrashed her.

Just not much competition above 135lb's yet - but 135 & under are really taking off, with 4 major amateur stars all coming up at the same time...
