Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Promoter Gives Update on Canelo Rematch Talks

So how are things progressing as it relates to the negotiations for a potential rematch between unified middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) and Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs), who fought to a draw on September 16th?

Sure four months later and your still working on the details, please. Both could have fought each other, or other fights by now

Just fight BJS...aging fighter sitting around on his @zz for 9 months makes no sense. Could've done BJS in February, granted a win do a May voluntary defense and fight Canelo in September again..call it a career. I get the whole may/september thing but goddamn that's a long break between fights if you come in on the tail end of the year and then go for a rematch.

Exactly...the longer it drags out without ggg having a fight in the interim, the better it is for Canelo. I doubt ggg's team wanted to risk the payday by taking a fight in between tho. We all pretty well knew it would be in May.

They should go their own ways. First one was a dud and doesn't inspire a rematch.

not really big on the rematch..the taste of robbery isn't so good on some fans..it leaves the impression that no one wants to watch if the true winner is going get robbed like the first time except if you add a knockout to the equation
