There are a lot of HAVES and HAVE NOTS in this BUSINESS!!

A fighter needs to keep fighting more "final" eliminators to get a title shot when he has been the MANDATORY for over 2 years!!

Some fighters will get a #1 ranking and a title shot with no fuss.

    Only in professional boxing!!!

But, Alvarez just ducked that chance, so now he's out. Period. Maybe he can get the Stevenson/Jack vs Gvozdyk winner as a gift, even though he doesn't deserve it after wasting everyone's time going on FOUR ****ING YEARS.
How has Gvozdyk's career been the most held back when he's only been a pro for four years?

unless there's a rule that you lose your mandatory if you choose to step aside, I dont see how any of this makes sense. Alvarez should still be mandatory w/out all these eliminators.

You're angry at the wrong party. Blaming Alvarez for his fight with Stevenson not happening and calling him a ducker is asinine. Dude has been calling out chicken**** for 2 years.

This move, although I hate it since IMO Gvozdyk and Alvarez are the best 2 fighters in the division, is 100% understandable. WBC is trying to force him to fight an extremely dangerous fighter for peanuts, and potentially lose his title shot that he's been waiting for 2+ years. That's ridiculous.
Alvarez deserves a title shot. Blame Stevenson or WBC for this ****show. I'm all for both Gvozdyk getting a title shot, but NOT at the expense of Eleider Alvarez.

That dude has been getting screwed over for last 2-3 years. Give him his damn shot.

The WBC should not have allowed the Stevenson/Jack fight. Make Stevenson/Alvarez fight, and then let the winner fight Jack in an optional defense after.

meanwhile Gvozdyk should be put in an eliminator with whoever #3 is and they should be the mando for the winner of Jack v Stevenson/Alvarez winner.

It took 4 years because the WBC made Kovalev the mandatory first and he never wanted to go to a purse bid. Business wise I see why they were trying to build Alvarez up and actually put him in with some good names to get exposure. It's not like he is stepping aside for Stevenson to fight a bum, and from his prospective I'm sure he was initially told he would get the winner next. Top Rank probably stepped in to make a complaint which annoys me because they control the WBO belt and they only seem to have to face Top Rank fighters.

Gvozdyk is still ranked high by all the organizations, and that is why I mentioned the Beterbiev fight. That one could easily be made.

He could just fight Beterbiev now for his belt, and won't have to wait.

You are right but I don't see either promoter making that fight right now.

Likely a Haymon strategy. He controlled both the champion and mandatory. As long as the mandatory kept delaying his title shot, another mandatory from another promotion would never appear. That way the WBC and lineal LHW title stays with Haymon and the champion can milk the title with easy voluntaries while the mandatory keeps taking step-aside deals.
