What casuals fail to understand is Ward actually used the clinch for combat and inside fighting. Wlad was a straight hugger like Bhop became later in his career. It baffles me how people that talk about boxing online all days fail to see how Ward worked in the clinch. There's either some extreme noobicism going on, or pure bias and dishonesty.

I never really minded ward's dirty "transitional" fighting in and out of the clinch & defended him in my earliest posts. I do consider that part of a legitimate boxing skillset. When guys ask where the infighting has gone, that's where it's gone. Holding has become so common/accepted that modern infighting revolves around what you can do in the split second leading into a clinch.

It's the blatant testicular action & forehead positioning that cooled me on him. The way his last fight ended was the icing on the cake.
