Garcia is delusional. His resume is littered with famous named fighters that were years past it. His best win is Matthysse. Thurman was his first prime, big name opponent with good boxing skill and he lost clearly.

Garcia can call Porter, Spence, Crawford, or Vargas. I don't favor him in any of those fights.

Garcia got famous for knocking out Amir Khan in a huge upset- but he wasn't even the first guy to stop Khan. Amir's glass jaw was put on blast 3 or 4 years before that happened.

He had a title at welter for years and never fought: Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto, Bradley, Marquez, Alexander, Maidana, etc. etc.

Years and years of bad fights, holding belts hostage. Case in point: he is currently scheduled to face Brandon Rios.

I'm not saying it won't be entertaining, but we all know he can do better. He's always been in a position to do better and make better fights.

I thought Thurman-Garcia was close. Thurman was on skates a lot.

no need for a rematch imo Thurman could have dominated a bit more but decided he won enough rounds to win the fight and come off the gas down the stretch

garcia was a loss waiting to happen for a long time if anything he owes Mauricio Herrera a rematch

Yup. The path to a rematch with Thurman was through Porter, which would have been a good fight and the winner deservedly gets a rematch with Thurman. But Cherry Garcia doesn't want any more risky fights. Imagine if he ever won the rematch, he would never fight Spence or Crawford to unify. He'd milk that title until retirement just like Stevenson. And Haymon would let him get away with it too.

I'm not sure how people think the fight was close or could have gone either way. Garcia won maybe 3 rounds. You don't win rounds for walking forward and not landing or even throwing punches.
