What Fighters Do You Think Would Actually Be fun to Be Around?

Porter seems like a real class act.Shawn Porter is a genuine nice dude, talked boxing with him for awhile. Spence seemed shy when I met him but was cool and took pics with me and the wife. Malignaggi was mad cool. Charlo bros seemed like ****heads and were trying to charge people for photos, and this was before they made any type of name for themselves. Hank Lundy is an all around cool and funny dude as well. GGG was mad cool, took time to kinda talk and take pics with every fan when I met him
I could see Pence being shy-just his personality.
I like the Charlos but I'm not surprised. Haha.
I'm glad to read this about GGG. He seems super cool but you never really know how people are in reality.
Great stuff, man!Comment

Yeah, Tito is great. He's a humble kid from the countryside and I don't think he's ever detached himself from that. Like I said he has a genuine warmth about him. I have friends that live in Puerto Rico and they say it's common that he does a lot of work for children and charities and a lot of it with next to no publicity. Same when you talk to anybody over there they really love the guy even the people today that were perhaps a bit too young to remember his glory days all really love the guy and there's never a bad word ushered about him. Cotto on the other hand a lot of people don't share that affection as he obviously doesn't have that charisma and bubbly personality as Tito but many say he's often rude to fans and it's common or it used to be to see him out drunk in public and not that nice.
If Tito was coming up today and with much better promotion he'd be the biggest thing in the sport. He was probably the second biggest non-heavyweight draw for a number of years for a minute without speaking much if any English in public. King neglected him for about 4 years of his prime and then wasn't that calculated with his match making (i.e would Arum really just go Vargas-Reid-Hopkins back-to-back-to-back?) perhaps that helps why he was loved and respected though. He had no fear.Comment

Yeah, when I first started out watching boxing, Tito got me into it big time. I saw the way he destroyed Maurice Blocker and then Luis Garcia and then Anthony Stephens(although Stephens gave him trouble) and then how he shut out a timid Camacho and then I got to see him live when he faced Yori Boy Campas. Great back and forth fight where Tito proved the better boxer and won in a glorious way or at least that's how I saw it at the time, being thirteen years old. From there, Tito knocked down one guy at a time, eventually outgrowing the division and engaging in some classic wars. His career was a pleasure to watch and yes, he never feared any fighter.
I'm glad to hear he's just as great outside the ring as he was in it.Comment

Yusaf Mack... if you know what I mean, and I think you do you dirty boy....
Seriously though, I can't think of a lot of them who would be fun to hang around with. Pros in any entertainment field are used to being the focus and expect to be treated as such, which is a real bore. They don't need to work on their personality to get by in life so they're usually devoid of one (just like pretty blondes tend to be). I work with musicians and they can be a bit cooler (partially because of drugs and liquor).
I heard an old commentary done w/ Ken Norton once and the dude seemed like the coolest guy ever. Totally down to earth. The pro commentator was trying to describe the differences between the two fighters by their similar looking trunks and Ken just straight up said some thing like, "Oh, you mean he's black dude and the other is the white one."
THAT is the kind of guy I'd like to have a beer w/ and chat boxing.

Yeah, this is why I posted. I don't figure most are that much fun and well from some interviews I've seen, I'm pretty certain.Yusaf Mack... if you know what I mean, and I think you do you dirty boy....

But I know that some of the dudes must be some fun. Any ****er who's crazy enough to get in the ring must be fun sometimes.
And you liking Ken Norton?
Well, I'm taken aback.
That was a good joke. I'll try to find that commentary.
And very nice quote by Sonny Liston. You need a heel and a face. He played the heel well, even if not by choice.Comment
