Now while I was never a big Floyd fan, I must look at this objectively. If the idea is to put legendary fighters on the belt, and there is precedent to this, then it’s warranted to put Floyd on there. You’d be hard pressed to find a fighter since Tyson who has crossed over in that way. In fact there are very few true crossover stars in boxing since Ali. It’s more about in the ring accomplishment. Floyd has become a cultural icon. Whatever you think about him, Floyd is a global superstar. You can also argue he is a top 10 ATG fighter and probably win that argument.
