He was actually just WBA champ. Floyd was WBC and ring champ when he beat Cotto for the WBC 154 pound title and Floyd then unified against him for all 3 belts.

The Floyd that fought Canelo that night would whoop the current version of Canelo easy. I said this in another topic, but Canelo has improved very little since he fought Floyd. He's matured physically, but still the same fighter with the same flaws. Half a decade later and we're still criticizing his footwook, talking about how he can't cut off a boxing ring, his cardio, etc... He couldn't beat 97G who is straight up down, with no special effects. He aint beating Floyd.

Why do you start threads like this larry, if someone starts a thread bagging fluid you immediately say how he's retired and stop making threads about him, yet here you are making 2 or 3 threads about him in 1 day, are you drunk or on the gear, your very hypocritical larry

Your post makes no sense at all...you say that Canelo has matured physically and improved a little (very little) since the Floyd fight.....

So how does the drained 152 version of Canelo that fought Floyd beat the significantly larger 160 version who faced GGG? You said the 152 Canelo beats the 160 version easy.... how?

35 year old Floyd would beat current Canelo easily. That clearer? I'm typing on my phone, proofreading is annoying on this small screen.

Also on my phone...i feel your pain.

You said the version that fought Floyd...so that's why I assumed you meant the younger Canelo as Floyd didn't fight himself that night. Perhaps change that sentence.

I know what you mean now with your explanation.... that makes a lot more sense.

I agree that the Floyd that fought the drained Canelo would beat the Canelo that just faced GGG. Floyd was in the zone that night. Masterful work and ring generalship.

his only experience at high level was trout, when you are 22 or 23 and then face the P4P king who happens to be the best of our era, that experience really isnt enough, canelo learned a lot from his fights with lara, cotto even more on his fight with floyd... now lets be honest p4p canelo is nowhere near that version of floyd ...
