    Ages: 44 / Catchweight 165lbs / O.G. Sugar Ray vs O.G. Bhop

Can a 44 year old Sugar Ray Robinson beat a 44 year old Bernard Hopkins at 165 catch?

It's a tough one. X-Factor is the weight differential, I think

Could Hopkins have even made 165 when he was 44?

At 44 Robinson was way way past prime and losing to ordinary boxers. No boxer retained his skills at 44 years old as well as Hopkins. At 44 Hopkins was still fighting and mostly winning at the highest level. Hopkins is also a bigger man than Robinson and better suited to fight at 165 pounds. Hopkins wins this fight easily in my opinion. Make them both 30 years old and have them fight at 160 and Robinson probably wins. They were both great middleweights. Robinson was at his pound for pound best as a welterweight.

He made 160 when he was almost 41 years old and he he was great at conditioning himself for different weights so I don't think 165 would have been a problem for him. He weighed in at 156 when he KOed Oscar at a 158 pound catchweight when he was 39 years old.
