DLH and Floyd far apart in negotiations

Earlier in the day, promoter Oscar De La Hoya cancelled a planned press conference to announce his next fight. "The Golden Boy" and his preferred opponent Floyd Mayweather Jr. are said to be so far apart in negotiations that any announcement would have been grossly premature.

        Found this article...

This past Thursday afternoon, the public relations department for the Borgata Hotel and Casino had confirmed that at 11 a.m. Saturday a press conference was scheduled where Oscar De La Hoya would make, "a major announcement."

On Friday however, the "major announcement" had been called off.

The world was to find out Saturday if De La Hoya would retire or fight Fight Mayweather Jr.

So what happened? Why no annoncement?

De La Hoya quoted today in David Mayo's column for Grand Rapids Press said: "I just need more time. When I retire, that's it. There won't be any comebacks. That puts enormous pressure on me to make the right decision. I just want to be sure before I announce anything."

Source of Quotes - David Mayo, Grand Rapids Press.

There was talk he was never planning on making an announcement but just said he would so press would come to the Hopkins fight instead of going to Cotto vs Paulie.

Don't jump on PBF's back buddy, He is on top of the p4p list so he has all the right to negotiate. Complain? I don't see or hear anything that suggest that Pbf is already complaining. If DLH ever decides to retire instead of fighting PBF, it's not going to affect PBF's career and it's not going to be his loss (in stature) Pbf's only loss is the chance to earn BIG MONEY.

Floyd doesn't have the power like Oscar because it is about how many people watch your fight/ buy your fight that counts.

How many PPVs does Floyd sell?
How many PPVs does Oscar sell?

When the seats in the stadium are over-priced, who is paying for which fighter, is it for Oscar, or is it for Floyd?

Judging by their careers, it is for Oscar

Floyd can get 10 million, but anything after that is a gift from Oscar; 10 million will be his highest pay check so far.
Oscar could make 15+ million for fighting Joe Nobody from the local bar.
