Get real, lets not act like Ward is actually better than Kovalev

Pretty evenly matched fighters in my opinion. I thought Kovalev won the first fight and the second one had a crap ending imo but I think Ward was coming on and Kovalev was deteriorating fast at the point of the stoppage. In the end the record books will say two wins for Ward which isn't a big deal imo, he could have two loses to Isaac Chilemba or Pasquale. He has time to rebound and get the belts back if he is dedicated to it. If nothing else we will see some good fights as he tries to.

I like both fighters, but Ward won both. First one was obviously a close match, you can look at it as either a robbery, or you can look at it as one of the best comebacks in the sport. Either way, it would have been contested regardless of who won. It's one of the few matches where I wouldn't have been upset if it had come back with a draw

second fight, what's the argument that Kovalev fan boys are making? That his balls are below his ribcage? he got dropped with a body shot, end of story.

Despite the stoppage I think those fights prove Kovalev is actually elite. Ward is better but not by lightyears or anything.

First fight, Ward got dropped, fight was close and most thought Kov won by a round or two.

Second fight, fight was competitive but Kov was winning until Ward shocked him with a series of bizarre nutshots that led to a "KO".

Ward is not better than Kovalev and did not school him, stop with the nonsense.

oh hell no, losing to Ward does not mean Kovalev isn't elite at all, they were fantastic bouts, and with Ward's retirement Kovalev still has some claim in the P4P rankings. He's one of the hardest hitting Light Heavies I've seen in a very long time.

The second fight was definitely re-written as a "beat down", but I had it either even or Kov up 1 entering the round of the stoppage. They fought each other dead even from about round 5 of fight 1 until round 7 of fight 2.

also, what matters too is Kovalev bounced back against Shabranskyy with a big, convincing win. How many times do we see a fighter get stopped, and then his career goes downhill immediately after? I'm looking forward to his match with Mikhalkin

second fight was very even. I had to PVR it because I worked, and I remember I had to rewind when Kov got dropped because it just seemed to come out of nowhere. I thought i had missed something in a really even fight. I also expected him to get up too though lol

Same here. But that being said, say what you will about Ward in terms of his punching power, when he has a fighter hurt he's an excellent finisher.
