This fight was never happening in the US. It’s common sense. A lot of what you’re saying is wrong:
- HBO and Showtime were not going to collaborate, as HBO already has the rights to the rematch as part of the deal for the first fight.
- Wilder vs Ortiz was a fight made completely separately to AJ-Klitschko, it wasn’t made because AJ-Wlad fell through.
- Still putting it on PPV in the UK would most likely affect the numbers negatively as it would be on at 4-5am and more importantly it would dramatically decrease the gate revenue.
This fight being in Vegas made zero sense financially, it couldn’t draw anywhere near the same TV numbers or Gate that it would in the UK. Hearn was simply making false claims and lying as he does constantly. Let’s remember he’s also said Nigeria, Dubai etc, were front runner’s for AJ’s next fight😂😂. He always had the Millennium Stadium booked for several dates on Oct/Nov cause that’s were the fight was truly intended to be, and that’s were AJ ended up fighting.
