  • Comments Thread For: Kelvin Bilal Fawaz Free on Bail, Continues To Fight Deportation

The case of Kelvin Bilal Fawaz took a new turn today as the amateur boxer who represented England yet now faces deportation back to Nigeria has been granted bail while he continues to fight against the Home Office's decision to deport him. Fawaz spent 34 days locked away in a detention centre pending his deportation only for a sympathetic judge to grant the 29-year-old bail, according to the Telegraph. The case has rumbled on for over a decade now and appears to be slowly drawing towards a resolution.

He isn't a Nigerian citizen, they won't allow him to live there.

I saw this on channel 5 news yesterday and obviously study up on it, he came here when he was 14, his biological father was Lebanese, his biological mother was Benin in west Africa, and he was born in Nigeria. But the Nigerian don’t acknowledge him because he never had paperwork’s as a Nigerian as both his parents were never citizens of the country. So far the Nigerians have refused to give him a passport as a citizen.

His case is quite complex, I don’t think the home office would have issues with him if he didn’t commit all the crimes he committed in his late teens. If he didn’t commit any crimes back then, then they would have grant him a work permit for him to work as a UK citizen.

He has lost out in thousands of pounds due to this, personally I think they should grant him a work permit for him to work, but at 29 it might be too late now for him to turn pro. Unless he turns pro and become a bum/sparring partner for up and coming boxers.
