Idiots who haven't noticed that Showtime's boxing budget is bigger than ever and PBC has a near monopoly on Showtime dates.

While HBO's boxing budget is smaller than ever and Golden Boy, Main Events and K2 have to share that budget.

An idiot is someone that believes the point of PBC was to get a monopoly on Showtime dates. Haymon already had a monopoly on Showtime dates before PBC was even an idea in his head. The point of PBC was free boxing. The biggest and best fights boxing has to offer on CBS, NBC, ESPN, and/or FOX. From that standpoint, PBC barely has a pulse.

The point of PBC was to grow the pie. The pie has grown. It will continue to grow. Haymon has more control, of more dates, for more money, than he's ever had before. He had to create leverage where there was none.

Haymon already had a monopoly on Showtime dates before PBC was even an idea in his head.
False. Golden Boy had SHO locked up. Which obviously included many Haymon fighters, but some of SHO's biggest stars like Canelo and Hopkins were not with Haymon.

False. The point of PBC was to grow the pie. Which ideally will include more dates on free TV as time goes on. But until UFC's TV deal is sorted out, FOX isn't going to make any decisions about PBC and until CBS/SHO know what PBC's long term future is, they're not going to make serious commitments on CBS either. Everything has been in a holding pattern until UFC's TV situation is finalized.

ESPN is not free TV and SHO is paying Haymon far more than ESPN is paying Arum.

PBC obviously hoped to coax NBC into the business, but once it was clear NBC wasn't prepared to spend money, they went in a different direction.

Nobody is saying things have worked out as quickly or as well as Haymon was hoping. He took a big chance that he could get NBC to want to spend. They don't want to. But the millions of viewers generated did attract the interest of FOX as well as making CBS curious about boxing on their main network from time to time too.

Haymon could have easily had the ESPN deal, but the ESPN deal is mainly smoke & mirrors. They're not actually paying much.

SHO got scared into beefing up their budget and giving Haymon more dates and more control than ever before. You can't deem PBC a failure when Haymon has more power, money, dates, world champions, etc than ever before and HBO has less power, money, dates, world champions, etc than ever before.
